Health

Baseline-to-endline evaluation of community health, nutrition and reproductive-health programmes, and health data-system reviews.

Overview

Evidence for programmes that reach the household, not just the clinic

Much of Kenya’s primary healthcare is delivered outside a facility — by community health promoters visiting households, by nutrition programmes run through schools and local administration, by outreach clinics that move rather than wait. DEVMENT evaluates health and nutrition programmes at that household level, using the same mixed-methods toolkit — surveys, key informant interviews, focus group discussions — that underpins our work in agriculture and education.

Our 2024 guide on gender-responsive nutrition programming, published with the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT (CGIAR), set out the framework we now apply to nutrition-sensitive and gender-responsive health evaluations for other clients.
