Digital tools in service of better evidence, not for their own sake
DEVMENT’s ICT work is not a separate technology practice bolted onto our research — it is the infrastructure that makes our Impact Evaluation and MEAL services possible. Every baseline, midline and endline we run today is collected on tablets rather than paper, which means our ICT consultant is involved from questionnaire design through to the dashboard a client’s programme team checks every week.
We also research digital-technology adoption directly: how mobile phones, digital extension services and e-government platforms are changing how development programmes reach the people they target. Our Guide on Gender-Responsive Digital Technologies in the Agrifood Systems, published with the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT (CGIAR) in 2024, is one example of that work.
